CSULB Department of Journalism and Public Relations

Every year, CSULB’s department of journalism and public relations hosts an awards ceremony.

In 2022, Bella Arnold had the honor of being inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha, an honors society for journalism and mass communication students. She was named Kappa Tau Alpha’s top journalism scholar. Additionally, she was recognized as the Society of Professional Journalists outstanding student leader for reviving CSULB’s chapter. Arnold received the award for outstanding scholarship for DIG Magazine as well after serving as the editor-in-chief for the 2021-2022 academic year. Finally, she received the top honor and was given the exceptional achievement in journalism and public relations award.

 

California College Media Association 2022

At the California College Media Association’s 2022 award show, Bella was listed as a recipient of Best Print Magazine (first place), Best Magazine Cover Design (first place), and for her work as editor-in-chief of DIG magazine.

DIG magazine was also awarded Best Magazine Inside Page/Spread Design (first place), Best Magazine Photo (second place), Best Magazine Story (third place) and Best Magazine Photo Series (first place). Additionally, Bella received recognition for a story about Black owned businesses in Long Beach that she wrote for The Daily Forty-Niner and received third place for Best Interactive Graphic.
